There’s a little schnauzer that I see on my morning walks named Dirk. In the last couple of weeks Dirk has begun to greet me with a “yow-wuf” hello. Then when I run my hand down his back to a certain point, he gives a tiny whimper. I don’t know Dirk’s human well, we share pleasantries as Dirk gets a little attention but that is all. Dirk’s human loves him very much and lets him socialize, so I know Dirk. I wondered how I might help without being intrusive or taking up too much time.
I created a little ball of Reiki in my hands and carried it on my walk today. When I saw Dirk and his human, Dirk’s head perked up and he picked up the pace towards me. I said good morning to them both and, as I patted Dirk’s head, I gently offered the little ball of Reiki to his low back. It soaked right in. Dirk wiggled happily, and off they went.
What a great morning. And what a simple and beautiful way to help a fur creature feel better with some Reiki.
